Stray Vines is an original rock band based in the Chicago area with a sound that mixes Americana, classic rock and a touch of grunge. The sound casts a wide net as a result of the wide influences of the band, who truly love all types of music and reflect that love in the sound.
Comprised of vocalist and guitarist James Abney, bass player Mario Ferro, drummer Mike Boyd and guitarist Ron Dillon, the songs feature personal lyrics, strong guitars and an extremely tight rhythm section. They bring the energy and engagement to their live shows and are a can’t-miss act.
They just released their debut EP ‘White Oak” which was released on all streaming platforms on March 7, 2025.

Mike Boyd, a native of Chicago’s southwest suburbs, has been drumming since the moment a VHS of Peter Criss and KISS sparked his passion over 25 years ago. Influenced by the energy of alt-rock and pop-punk, he’s developed a keen ear for arrangement and dynamics, blending precision with a bombastic, free-flowing style that elevates every song. Having performed at venues across Chicagoland, Mike now brings his powerful, anthemic drumming to Stray Vines, driving their sound to new heights.
